Title
RESOLUTION R-2021-127: A RESOLUTION OF THE NORMAN MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY APPROPRIATING $22,228.57 FROM THE WESTWOOD FUND BALANCE TO BE USED REPAIR EMERGENCY LEAK REPAIR AT THE WESTWOOD FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER.
Body
BACKGROUND: The City Council/Norman Municipal Authority has been transferring $35,000 per year for the “Westwood Pool Maintenance Reserve” from the Norman Forward Fund, and it has been placed into a reserve of the Westwood Fund Balance. At the end of this fiscal year, there was projected to be a total of $105,000 in reserve before consideration of this item.
DISCUSSION: At this time, the staff is recommending an appropriation from the Westwood Fund balance to be used at the Westwood Family Aquatic Center in order to pay for an emergency repair. The lazy river was filled in late April for inspections with the State of Oklahoma Department of Labor and overnight, the river lost a significant amount of water due to a broken underground line. Sunbelt Pools, a commercial pool contractor, was contacted, found and repaired a substantial leak on a six-inch line under the pool deck at the cost of $22,228.57. The Norman Forward program has always anticipated funding this reserve for significant maintenance or emergency repairs at the Westwood pool complex.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Norman Municipal Authority approve Resolution R- 2021-127, appropriating $22,228.57 from the Westwood Fund Balance (29-29000) to Westwood Park Fund, Miscellaneous (29970133-44299).
