CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID-1920-61 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FLUOROSILICIC ACID FOR THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY.

BACKGROUND: On May 28, 2020, bids were opened for Bid-1920-61 for Fluorosilicic Acid. Funds of $802,299 were allocated in the fiscal year ending 2021 Water Fund budget, Water Treatment Plant, Operating Chemicals (account 31955234-43108) for the purchase of all treatment chemicals.
DISCUSSION: Specifications were sent to five (5) vendors and five (5) bids were received. The lowest and best bid meeting all specifications was submitted by Solvay Fluoride LLC in the amount of $0.222 per pound. This compares to a cost of $ 0.2045 per pound last year, an increase of 8.65 percent.
RECOMMENDATION: Purchases will be made throughout FYE 2021. Bids have been examined by Staff and found to be in order and proper as to form. Based upon the above information, Staff recommends acceptance of the low bid as listed above.
