BACKGROUND: On 14 May 2019, City Council approved RFP Number K-1819-50 for the Cedar Lane (Song Bird) Playground Project. Included in this project was the installation of new playground equipment that included multi-level play decks, climbing components and slides, and transition heights. The additional stand-alone play components in the playground include items specifically geared towards those with disabilities, which makes the playground even more innovative and able to accommodate a larger range of ages and abilities.
DISCUSSION: The Cedar Lane (Song Bird) Park Playground Project was awarded to Cunningham Recreation, in the amount of $174,281. No partial payments were made during the project’s construction.
On August 13, 2019, City of Norman Parks and Recreation Staff inspected the new playground and found it to be complete as per specifications.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council accept the Cedar Lane (Song Bird) Park Playground Project as complete and authorize final payment in the amount of $174,280.95 to Cunningham Recreation. Funding is available in Norman Forward Neighborhood Park Improvements, Construction (account Org 51798830 Object 46101; project NFP104).
