BACKGROUND: On July 9, 2019, City Council approved the contract to fund the Acres Street Sidewalk Project by Central Contracting Services, Inc. Contract K-1920-23 in the amount of $131,185.

The Acres Street Sidewalk Project provides sidewalk along the north side of Acres Street in the gap between Flood Avenue and the new Central Library located on James Garner Avenue. The project also constructed missing sidewalk, ramps, rebuild existing non-compliant ramps and repair deficient sidewalk along the north side of Acres Street between the railroad tracks and Porter Avenue.

City Capital funds in the amount of $8,800 were spent from the project account on April 29, 2019 to construct sidewalk and ramps on the northwest side of the railroad crossing adjacent to the library, which was coordinated with the road improvements at this location. The contractor performing that work was Central Contracting Services, Inc.

Work began August 27, 2019, and the project was 100% complete by October 25, 2019.

Norman Public Library Central grand opening was on November 3, 2019.

DISCUSSION: Central Contracting Services, Inc. successfully completed the work in the targeted area from August 27, 2019 to October 25, 2019 with a retainage payable amount of $5,140.30. Total cost of this contract is $102,806. During the project less work was required due to the ramps constructed with the University Road Improvement Project intersecting at Acres Street, less driveway reconstruction than expected and eliminating storm inlet modifications. Change Order No. 1 will reduce the final cost of the contract by $28, 379.
