CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID 1819-69 FOR THE PURCHASE OF WELL SERVICES FOR THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY.

Body

BACKGROUND:  On April 18, 2019, bids were opened for Bid 1819-69 for Well Services.  The City of Norman has 32 active water wells supplying ground water to the community. The well service bid is for the removal and installation of pumps and motors should they fail. The bid is based on a per foot unit price so each well would have a different cost dependent upon its depth.

DISCUSSION:  The bidding documents for Bid 1819-69, Well Services were sent to two (2) vendors and one (1) bid was received. Staff has examined the bids and found them to be in order and proper as to form.  Meyer Pump Service from Norman, Oklahoma submitted the lowest and best bid meeting all specifications. The unit price bid to remove a submersible pump and motor is $1.80 per foot with a $600 mobilization/demobilization charge for each well.  There is no increase in the unit price bid per foot since last year. Purchases may be made throughout Fiscal Year Ending 2020 (FYE20)

Funds totaling $40,170 have been budgeted in both the FYE19 and FYE20 Budget, Water Wells/Other Supplies/Materials (031-5535-461.31-99) to pay for well services.

RECOMMENDATIONStaff recommends acceptance of Bid 1819-69 for Well Services and award of the bid to Meyer Pump Service from Norman, Oklahoma.
