CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID 1819-67 FOR THE PURCHASE OF ANHYDROUS AMMONIA FOR THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT.

BACKGROUNDOn April 18, 2019, bids were opened for Bid-1819-67 for the purchase and delivery of Anhydrous Ammonia to be used at the Norman Water Treatment Plant (WTP) during the Fiscal Year Ending 2020 (FYE20). During FYE19, 8.72 tons of Anhydrous Ammonia was purchased for use in the disinfection process at the WTP.

 

DISCUSSION:  The attached bidding documents were sent to three (3) vendors and one (1) bid was received.  Bids have been examined by staff and found to be in order and proper as to form.  The lowest and best bid meeting all specifications was submitted by Southwest Chemical/Water Tech Inc. in the amount of $1,650 per ton.  During FYE19, the unit price for purchase of Anhydrous Ammonia was for $1,645 per ton; the new unit price represents an increase of 0.3%.

 

Funds totaling $602,299 are budgeted in both the FYE19 and FYE20 WTP Chemicals account (031-5534-461.31-08) for purchase of all treatment chemicals. Based on historic purchases, it is expected that $9600 will be expended for the purchase of Anhydrous Ammonia during FYE20.

 

RECOMMENDATIONStaff recommends acceptance of Bid-1819-67 for the purchase and delivery of Anhydrous Ammonia from Southwest Chemical/Water Tech Inc. in the unit price amount of $1,650 per ton.
