Title

SUBMISSION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OF OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY SANITARY SEWER LINE PERMIT SL000014190349 DATED MAY 16, 2019, FOR THE SUMMIT VALLEY INTERCEPTOR PROJECT LOCATED SOUTH OF EAST LINDSEY STREET AND EAST OF 24TH AVENUE S.E.

Body

BACKGROUND:  On June 26, 2018, the Norman Utilities Authority (NUA) approved Contract K-1718-130 authorizing SMC Consulting Engineers, P.C. to proceed with survey, design, and construction management services for the Summit Valley Interceptor sanitary sewer project.  The project includes approximately 925 feet of 15-inch, 2,130 feet of 12-inch, 75 feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer line and appurtenances.  Through completion of this project, the existing Eastridge Lift Station will be taken out of service and demolished and sewage will flow by gravity to the existing Summit Valley Lift Station.  The Summit Valley Lift Station was sized with sufficient capacity to handle flows from the entire drainage basin.

DISCUSSION:  As part of the project requirements and per State regulations, a construction permit from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) is required.  The plans and specifications for the project were submitted to the ODEQ on April 25, 2019, and the plans and specifications were approved and the permit was issued on May 16, 2019.  As noted on the attached permit, the ODEQ requires the permit receipt to be made a matter of permanent record in the City Council’s minutes.

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends that the receipt of ODEQ Permit SL000014190349 dated May 16, 2019, be noted and made a matter of permanent record in the minutes of the Norman Utilities Authority.
