RESOLUTION R-1819-115:  A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA DEPOSITING A REIMBURSEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $499.08 FROM INTERNATIONAL POLICE MOUNTAIN BIKE ASSOCIATION D/B/A IPMBA AND APPROPRIATING THOSE FUNDS TO EMPLOYEE TRAVEL/WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS ACCOUNT.

BACKGROUND: Sergeant Thomas Zermeno attended an advanced bike training conference in April 2019. Sgt. Zermeno stayed at the Hilton Ft. Worth Texas hotel. The City of Norman Police Department paid for his hotel room in advance. The total cost of stay was $998.16. The hosting agency, “International Police on Mountain Bike Association, doing business as IPMBA reimbursed the City for half of the cost of the hotel, in the amount of $499.08.

 

DISCUSSION: Sgt. Zermeno is a subject matter expert on police bike tactics and maneuvers. He is often requested to train Norman police and other law enforcement agencies locally and across the country on proper police bike skills and maneuvers.

 

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that $499.08 be deposited into the General Fund, Reimbursements/Other City Expense (account 010-0000-366.12-29) and appropriated to the Police Department, Employee Travel / Workshops & Seminars (account 010-6022-421.46-04).
