AUTHORIZATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF A GENERATOR FROM FAITH ELECTRIC IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,608 FOR FIRE STATION NO. TWO.

BACKGROUND: The generator currently at Station 2 is very old (approximately 1970) and unreliable. The current generator has been requiring continual maintenance to keep running and is not dependable. The current unit does not power all of the needed equipment when power is lost.
DISCUSSION: The purpose for the generator at Fire Station 2 is so that in a time where the Station is without power, the generator can keep the station in service and allow the firefighters to respond to emergency calls, serving the public in an uninterrupted manner.
Written quotes were obtained from three vendors in the amounts of $28,608, $44,500 and $64,948. After a thorough review it is determined that the lowest quote of $28,608, which was submitted by Faith Electric, should be accepted.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the purchase of a generator for Fire Station 2 in the amount of $28,608 from Faith Electric. Funds for this purchase are in the FYE 19 budget, General Fund, Fire Suppression, Service Equipment Light Duty (account number 010-6443-422.50-09).
