Title

RESOLUTION R-1819-106:  A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, TRANSFERRING DONATED FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,500 FROM THE ANIMAL WELFARE LIABILITY ACCOUNT TO BE USED AT THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER.

Body

BACKGROUND:  The Animal Welfare Division purchased an Adoption trailer in 2016 with donated funds.  This trailer is used for community adoption events and is an advertising billboard for Animal Welfare adoptions.  Since purchasing the trailer a need to protect it from the elements has been identified.  In FYE 2018, a carport style cover was funded in the Capital budget but it did not include a solid ground base.

Since the purchase of the trailer, several financial donations have been given to the Animal Welfare Center from citizens.  Those funds can be used to assist in improving the Animal Welfare Center and its equipment.

DISCUSSION:   The Animal Welfare staff have partnered with other City of Norman staff to develop a plan to address the ground base.  The plan is to construct a concrete parking pad for the adoption trailer which will also worked as a stabling platform for the carport to be built on.   City Staff will only need building materials to construct the concrete pad.  The pad will be constructed at the Animal Welfare Center.

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends that $3,500 of Animal Welfare donations be used to complete this project.  Staff recommends transferring $3,500 from Other / Animal Control account (010-0000-227.24-31) to Reimbursements/Other City Expenses and appropriated into the Animal Welfare account (010-6070-441.33-01).
