CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FROM COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS INTERNATIONAL TO ASSIST IN EFFORTS TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS IN CITY OF NORMAN AND BUDGET APPROPRIATION.

BACKGROUND: The City Code, Section 8-111, requires that any donation made to the City with a value greater than $250 must be accepted by action of the City Council.
DISCUSSION: The City of Norman has received an unsolicited donation of $500 from Community Solutions International. The Cleveland County Continuum of Care has partnered with multiple initiatives that Community Solutions has organized and has been the beneficiary of technical assistance on numerous occasions. Community Solutions helps communities such as Norman, adopt the best problem solving tools from multiple sectors to end homelessness and the conditions that create it.
The Cleveland County Continuum of Care suggested an appropriate use of these funds would be to assist in the provision of supplies (socks, hygiene items, etc.) for persons who are experiencing homelessness. These funds will be utilized to purchase supplies that are distributed to persons who are homeless through the Homeless Outreach Program and/or the ID Expo Events.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Council accept the donation of $500 from Community Solutions International and deposit the funds to the General Fund, Organizational Contributions (account 010-0000-365.13-73).
It is further recommended that the Council approve an appropriation of the donated funds to the Revitalization Cost Center, Supplies and Materials Miscellaneous (account 010-4052-463.31-99).
