CHANGE ORDER NO. ONE TO CONTRACT K-1819-86: A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND SUN CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, INC., INCREASING THE CONTRACT AMOUNT BY $1,581.78 FOR A REVISED CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $36,665.77 FOR THE BUILDING C RESTROOM RENOVATION/AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) COMPLIANCE PROJECT AND FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROJECT.

Body
BACKGROUND: City Council, in its meeting of December 11, 2018, approved Contract K-1819-86 with Sun Construction Services, Inc., for the Building C Restroom Renovation/ADA Compliance Project.

DISCUSSION: Other than minor repairs, the Building C restrooms had not been updated since the building was constructed in 1982. This project updated both the men's and women's restrooms as well as making necessary modifications for Americans With Disabilities Act compliance. The project also included the installation of diaper changing tables in both restrooms, and is the first building in the Municipal Complex to receive them.

The original quotes for the project came in under the budgeted amount which allowed for the replacement of the feminine napkin disposal containers and hands-free lavatory faucets in lieu of the existing lever handles. The original quote did not include permitting fees as it was not clear that the contractor would be the one applying for the building permit instead of the City. Change Order One increases the contract amount by $1,581.78, which covers the cost of the additional items and permitting fees associated with the project. It also provides for more efficient lavatory systems than what were in place, making it much easier for the differently-abled community using the facilities. Sufficient funds remain in the FYE 2019, Capital Budget, Building C Restroom Renovation, Construction (account 050-9677-419.61-01; project EF0225) to cover the increased cost.

The project is complete, has been inspected, and complies with all City Codes and specifications outlined in the original...
