AMENDMENT NO. ONE TO CONTRACT K-1819-53: BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND ROSE ROCK VETERINARY HOSPITAL AND PET RESORT TO EXTEND THE CONTRACT UNTIL JUNE 30, 2019, TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL VETERINARIAN SERVICES FOR THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER THROUGH JUNE 30, 2019.

BACKGROUND: The parties entered into a contract dated August 14, 2018, for professional veterinarian services to be provided until a full-time veterinarian was hired. A veterinarian has been hired and will begin employment with the City of Norman on or about April 1, 2019.
DISCUSSION: The Animal Welfare Center needs professional veterinarian services to provide care for animals which are sick or injured upon intake or which become ill while at the center, until the veterinarian starts employment with the City of Norman and for a period of transition for the veterinarian. The amendment extends the contract with Rose Rock Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort until June 30, 2019. Rose Rock is located in Norman and has a sizeable staff that can consistently address the medical needs of animals for the Norman Animal Welfare Center whether it is for scheduled care, emergency care or intensive care. Funds are available in Veterinarian Services (account number 010-6070-441.40-30).
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that Amendment No. 1 to Contract K-1819-53 be extended until June 30, 2019, for professional veterinarian services for the Norman Animal Welfare Center.
