Body
BACKGROUND: On August 8, 2017, City Council awarded MTZ Construction, Inc. of Oklahoma City the bid for the FYE 2018 Concrete Sidewalk Projects, which included five sidewalk improvement projects. MTZ completed all of the FYE 2018 Concrete Sidewalk Projects in April, 2018, but was still under contract for any additional sidewalk repairs that may occur during the fiscal year. The approved contract amount was $250,650.

On August 24, 2018, City Council approved Change Order No. 2, partnering with Cleveland Area Rapid Transit (CART) to improve handicapped access to multiple bus stops that abut the pedestrian sidewalk system across the City of Norman, and to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act compliance standards, at an increase of $90,000. The total contract amount increased to $340,650.

Work began in August of 2017 and all projects were significantly complete by August 24th, 2018. Final work to replace damaged sprinkler heads for property owners was completed on October 30th, 2018.

DISCUSSION: Due to cost savings for some unused items in the "Sidewalk Program for Schools and Arterials" and "Downtown Area Sidewalk and Curbs"; Change Order No. 3 results in a decrease of $7,626.90 for a revised contract amount to $333,023.10.

MTZ Construction, Inc. successfully completed the work on the five (5) projects: Citywide Sidewalk Reconstruction Program; Sidewalk Accessibility Program; Sidewalk Program for Schools and Arterials Program; Downtown Area Sidewalks and Curbs Program; Downtown Area Sidewalks and Curbs Program and Sidewalks and Trails Project at a total cost of $333,023.10.
