CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID 1819-32 FOR THE PURCHASE OF CATIONIC POLYMER FOR THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY.

BACKGROUND: On December 6, 2018, bids were opened for Bid-1819-32 for Cationic Polymer. Funds in the amount of $602,299 have been allocated in the fiscal year 2018-2019 (FYE 2019) Water Fund budget, Water Treatment Plant, Operating Chemicals (account 031-5534-461.31-08) for purchase of all treatment chemicals.
DISCUSSION: With process upgrades for Phase II construction the Water Treatment Plant will be using a cationic polymer in the process to help as coagulation. Specifications were sent to nine (9) vendors and four (4) bids were received. The lowest and best bid meeting all specifications was submitted by Mid America Hydro Tech in the amount of $0.424 per pound.
RECOMMENDATION: Purchases will be made throughout FYE 2019. Bids have been examined by Staff and found to be in order and proper as to form. Based upon the above information, Staff recommends acceptance of the low bid as listed above.
