CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID 1819-30 FOR THE PURCHASE OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE FOR THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY.

BACKGROUND: On December 6, 2018, bids were opened for Bid-1819-30 for Hydrogen Peroxide. Funds in the amount of $602,299 have been allocated in the fiscal year 2018-2019 (FYE 2019) Water Fund Budget at Water Treatment Plant - Operating Chemicals (account 031-5534-461.31-08) for purchase of all treatment chemicals.
DISCUSSION: With process upgrades for Phase II construction, the Water Treatment plant will be using hydrogen peroxide in the process as an oxidizer to help in the control of taste and odor. Specifications were sent to two (2) vendors and two (2) bids were received. The lowest and best bid meeting all specifications was submitted by Univar the amount of $0.2720 per pound. This is the first time we have bid hydrogen peroxide.
RECOMMENDATION: Purchases will be made throughout FYE 2019. Bids have been examined by Staff and found to be in order and proper as to form. Based upon the above information, Staff recommends acceptance of the low bid as listed above.
