body

BACKGROUND:  On December 2, 2018, thieves stole a 2005 Chevrolet one-half ton pickup (Unit #209) from the Transfer Station located at 3901 S. Chautauqua Avenue.   This incident was reported to the Norman Police Department and a report was filed (see attached).  The vehicle has not been recovered as of this date.  The Sanitation Division used this vehicle for operational purposes.

The Sanitation Division of the Utilities Department has consulted with the Fleet Division to determine the cost of a suitable replacement.  The replacement cost is estimated to be $42,863 (see attached cost build sheet).  This truck will be purchased using State of Oklahoma contracts whereby bidding has already occurred as allowed by City code.

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends appropriation of $42,863 from Sanitation Fund Balance (Account 033-0000-253.00-00) to Service Equipment/Trucks & Vans (Account 033-5562-432.50-03).
