Title

CONSIDERATION OF GRANT OF EASEMENT E-1819-52 TO OKLAHOMA GAS AND ELECTRIC FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL SERVICE FOR THE WESTWOOD TENNIS CENTER INDOOR COURT FACILITY PROJECT.

Body

BACKGROUND: On June 12, 2018, The Norman Municipal Authority approved Contract K-1718-120 with Flintco Inc. for the construction of the Westwood Tennis Center Indoor Court Facility Project. Construction of the Westwood Tennis Center Indoor Court Facility began in August 2018 and has steadily progressed since that time.

The Parks and Recreation Department has been contacted by Oklahoma Gas and Electric Services (OG&E) requesting a Grant of Easement for the purpose of installing underground electrical service for the Westwood Tennis Indoor Court Facility.

The new service line will cross part of the golf course as described in Exhibit “A” and shown on Exhibit “B” of Easement E-1819-52, copies of which are attached.

DISCUSSION: OG&E has prepared the necessary documentation for the Grant of Easement. Park Planning and Public Works staff has reviewed the proposed location and determined that the granting of this easement will not interfere with any current or planned future development of the park or adjacent streets.

Since the proposed service line will cross a section line, OG&E has requested there be two Easements granted for this project. The two easements are contiguous but keeping them in separate legal descriptions clarifies any future questions which may arise if the property should ever change hands.

Attached are OG&E’s Easement request letter, Easement-1819-52 and Job Identifier drawing.

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve Easement E-1819-52, a Grant of Easement to OG&E.
