AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT INCLUDING TELEPHONES AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE, INSTALLATION, TRAINING, AND A 5-YEAR HARDWARE WARRANTY FROM COMMERCIAL TELECOM SYSTEMS IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,950 FOR THE NORMAN CENTRAL LIBRARY.

body

BACKGROUND:  Construction began for the new Norman Central Library in June 2017. As part of the February 2016 Memorandum of Understanding and the November 2013 Library Services Agreement between the City of Norman and Pioneer Library System (PLS), the City of Norman is responsible for the installation of a telephone system for the building as part of those agreements.

DISCUSSION:   In an effort to make all telecommunication systems system hardware and phone licensing uniform across the PLS library system, Commercial Telecom System phone was selected as the vendor. Commercial Telecom System is the sole source provider of the phone licenses and hardware (Vertical IP500/2500) for this region. Commercial Telecom System will provide the equipment, including telephones and associated hardware, installation, training, and a 5-year hardware warranty for a phone system for the new Central Library. The total cost is $68,950.

Funding for this project has been allocated from NORMAN FORWARD project accounts for the new Central Library Project (project NFB016), Materials (account 051-9507-455.63-01).

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends that the Trustees of Norman Municipal Authority approve the purchase in the amount of $68,950 with Commercial Telecom Systems for a new telephone system for the new Central Library.
