CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID 1718-61 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FLUORIDE FOR THE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY.

BACKGROUND: On April 26, 2018, Bid 1718-61 for Fluoride was opened. Funds in the amount of $636,251 have been budgeted in the Water Fund, Operating Chemicals (account 031-5534-461.31-08) for purchase of all treatment chemicals.
DISCUSSION: Specifications for Bid 1718-61 for Fluoride were sent to two (2) vendors as well as to ePlan, a company that solicits bids, and two (2) bids were received. The lowest and best bid meeting all specifications was submitted by Brenntag of Nowata, Oklahoma, in the amount of $0.525 per pound. This compares to a cost of $0.4795 per pound last year, an increase of approximately 9.48%.
RECOMMENDATION: Purchases will be made throughout FYE 2019. Bids have been examined by Staff and found to be in order and proper as to form. Based upon the above information, Staff recommends acceptance of the low bid as listed above.
