Title
RESOLUTION R-1718-112: A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, APPROPRIATING $27,500 OF DONATED FUNDS FROM THE ANIMAL WELFARE DONATION ACCOUNT TO BE USED AT THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER.

Body
BACKGROUND: The Norman Animal Welfare Center often receives general unsolicited donations to the facility for unspecified uses. These donations are accepted and deposited within a dedicated account where they are maintained until requested and approved for disbursement for use within our facility. This item is being brought forward for that purpose. While not required, the Animal Welfare Oversight Committee has discussed this request and has voted to support the action.

DISCUSSION: The Norman Animal Welfare Center staff has identified needs within the facility that are outside of the scope of routine services provided by a municipal shelter. These items are all related to the specific care and wellbeing of the animals in our custody and have no recurring costs. The funds being requested for distribution were provided to the facility with no stipulations or requests for a specific purpose. Staff believes the expenditures are being made in good faith that would satisfy the intent of any individual donor's efforts to support and better the facility, our animals and our staff. The requested items will be purchased as soon as possible.

Items specifically included within this distribution are the purchase of improved bedding for adoptable dogs, animal dental care equipment, additional and improved animal housing devices, materials for improvement of the facility's efforts to care for sick and injured animals, and equipment necessary for the safe use of a portable x-ray machine currently on loan to our facility by a local veterinary clinic.

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that $27,500 be distributed from the Miscellaneous Revenues / Contributions / Donations / Animal Welfare account (010-0000-227.24-31) into Animal Welfare Business Services...
