CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FROM JANICE L. KAWANT TO BE USED AT THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER.

BACKGROUND: Ms. Janice Kawant has sent the City of Norman Animal Welfare Center a donation in the amount of $500. In accordance with City Code, Section 8-111, any donation in excess of $250 must be accepted by the City Council. This item is being brought forward for that purpose.
DISCUSSION: This is a private, unsolicited donation for the care of animals at the Norman Animal Welfare Center. It was offered in the “Loving memory of Paul W. Updegraff Jr. and our dog Ali”. It was provided by mail with no stipulations or requests for a specific purpose.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the $500 donation be accepted and deposited into the Other Current Liabilities / Animal Welfare account (010-0000-227.24-31) for distribution at a later date.
