CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM WAL-MART FOUNDATION TO BE USED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT A POLICE RECRUITING SEMINAR TO ENCOURAGE MORE WOMEN TO CONSIDER A CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT.

BACKGROUND: The Wal-Mart Foundation announced that Facility Giving funds are available to the City of Norman for use in the Norman Police Department in the amount of $1,000.
DISCUSSION: It is the intention of the Norman Police Department to use these funds to conduct an eight-hour police recruiting seminar designed to encourage women to consider a career in law enforcement with the Norman Police Department. We anticipate an attendance of approximately fifty women. The funds will be used for the following: Program, keynote speaker, travel and per diem expenses - $450; Refreshments for participants - $300; Facility rental - $250.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that Council accept the donation in the amount of $1,000 and deposit the funds into Donation/Organization account 010-0000-365.13-73. Funds should be appropriated into and expended from the following accounts:
Reception & Meeting 010-6015-421.30-16, amount $300
Consultant/Other 010-6015-421.40-09, amount $450
Other Rentals & Leases 010-6015-421.45-99, amount $250
