body
BACKGROUND: Section 8-111 of the City Code requires that the City Council accept all donations with a value of more than $250 received by the City, prior to the use or disbursement of same.  Therefore, it is requested that Council review and consider the following item for acceptance and use by the Norman Fire Department.

DISCUSSION: The Fire Department has received a donation of $2,500 from the Cleveland County Local Emergency Planning Committee for the purchase of a swift water rescue boat. This is an inflatable boat that is primarily intended to be used for the purpose of rescuing people from flood waters. The Fire Department commonly encounters motorists that have become trapped by rising water and this boat will provide a much safer means to bring these people from the water.

RECOMMENDATION:  It is recommended that City Council accept the donation of $2,500 from the Cleveland County Local Emergency Planning Committee to the City of Norman Fire Department for a swift water rescue boat tool and the money be deposited into Revenue Other: Fire Miscellaneous (account 010-0000-227.24.38) and appropriated to Fire Suppression, Other Supplies/Materials/Firefighting (account 010-6443-422.31-22).
