BACKGROUND: The City of Norman funds a portion of its annual concrete street repairs through the City's Capital Improvement Program Budget. Locations are chosen using the City's Pavement Management System (PMS) and visual inspections. Repairs are made by both City of Norman employees and qualified paving contractors.
The Urban Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation Capital Improvement Project (CIP) involves concrete street pavement panel repairs and replacement. This project is funded in Concrete Pavement Maintenance, Materials (account 050-9718-431.63-01; projects SC0565, SC0591, SC0608, SC0609, SC0610, SC0627, SC0628, SC0650, SC0651, and SC0652). In addition to concrete panel replacement, this work includes removal and reconstruction of the intersection of University Boulevard and Acres Street. The reconstructed intersection will include new curb, as well as replacement of the existing damaged ADA ramps on each corner. Work began on the intersection on July 15, 2019.
On April 23, 2019 The City Council awarded the CIP concrete rehabilitation contract to SAC Services, Inc. in the amount of $1,059,440. This work consists of select concrete panel replacement on 10 streets located within six (6) urban Norman additions.
New sidewalk will be constructed along Acres Street as a part of the FYE 2019 Concrete Sidewalk Program, awarded to Central Contracting. The Acres Street Sidewalk Project is intended to provide sidewalk along the north side of Acres Street in the gap between Flood Avenue and the new Central Library located on James Garner Avenue. The project will also construct missing sidewalk, ramps, rebuild existing non-compliant ramps and repair deficient sidewalk along the north side of Acres Street between the railroad tracks and Porter Avenue.
