RESOLUTION NO. R-1516-57:  A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, GIVING THE SECRETARY OF THE CLEVELAND COUNTY ELECTION BOARD NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL AND MUNICIPAL RUNOFF ELECTIONS FOR 2016.

 

Body

Council discussed setting the dates for the 2016 City Council elections in its Council Conference on November 10, 2015, prior to their regular meeting.  Article II, Sections 5 and 6, of the Charter of the City of Norman provides for the Council to set by resolution in November the dates of the City Council Municipal and Runoff Elections for the following year.

 

The filing dates set by Charter for City Council races are the second Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of January (January 11-13, 2016).  The 2016 elections will include Wards 2, 4, 6, and 8 and the Mayor.  Those candidates elected will take their oath of office and their terms will become effective on July 7, 2016.
