BACKGROUND: The fiscal year 2012-2013 (FYE 2013) Public Safety Sales Tax Fund budget included funding to renovate the Joe Smalley Center for City of Norman use as the Police/Fire Investigations Facility. On July 9, 2013, City Council awarded a construction contract (K-1213-195) for the renovations to Downey Contracting, L.L.C. The renovation project anticipated the requirement for networking hardware to provide network access to each networked device in the Investigations Facility back to the network resources located at the City of Norman Municipal Complex.
DESCRIPTION: Funds for this purchase are available in the Smalley Center Renovations Project Construction (account 050-9540-419.61-01; project EF1001). Staff of the Information Technology Division received pricing via the State Contract ITSW1006C for Cisco Systems hardware from Chickasaw Telecom, Inc., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the amount of $29,284.60. This will be total cost of the contract.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve authorization for the purchase and installation of Cisco Systems Network Switch Equipment from Chickasaw Telecom, Inc., in the amount of $28,284.60 to provide network access at the City of Norman Investigations Center located at 1507 West Lindsey Street, and adopt the Resolution granting tax-exempt status for the equipment purchase.
