Title
CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS TOTALING $4,000 FROM CITIZEN DONORS TO BE USED BY THE NORMAN POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE TEN (10) TRACKING BRACELETS TO BE USED IN THE CARE TRACK PROGRAM AND BUDGET APPROPRIATION.
Body
BACKGROUND: Home Instead Senior Care, a senior citizen service company, would like to ensure that NPD has the equipment necessary for citizens that want to voluntarily participate in Care Trak.
DISCUSSION: As part of NPD’s continuing commitment to protect the lives of citizens, NPD has partnered with Sunbeam Services, a non-profit service company, to implement Care Trak. Care Trak is a program that provides tracking capability for citizens that are prone to wander due to certain genetic or neurological conditions; autism, dementia, down syndrome, etc. NPD has the equipment necessary to track individuals that are wearing a corresponding bracelet. These funds will be used to purchase 10 of the tracking bracelets which in turn will be managed by Sunbeam Services.
A list of individual donors is attached. We wish to clarify that the donations were facilitated through a single entity, Home Instead Senior Care, but were given by individuals/businesses.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City of Norman accept the donations totaling $4,000 into Citizen Donation (010-0000-365.13-72) and appropriate the funds to Staff Services Safety Equipment (010-6015-421.51-21).
