CONSIDERATION OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE AND FINAL PAYMENT OF CONTRACT NO. K-1314-116 BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND SHAW CONTRACTING FOR THE ANDREWS PARK PAVILION CONSTRUCTION PROJECT.

BACKGROUND: On 28 January 2014, City Council approved Contract K-1314-116 for the Andrews Park Pavilion Construction Project. This contract was for the construction of a 44' x 28' rock pavilion including a perimeter seating wall and large grill. The contract was awarded to Shaw Contracting in the amount of $143,000. The project also included picnic tables, waste receptacles and sodding. A bronze plaque was installed recognizing the long-time community support of The Assistance League of Norman, who donated $56,000 towards the pavilion construction.
DISCUSSION: On 26 June 2014, Parks and Recreation staff inspected the Andrews Park Pavilion Construction Project, found it to be complete as per specifications and recommends authorizing final payment. Partial payments were made from February through May 2014, as the project progressed.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council accept the Andrews Park Pavilion Construction Project as complete and authorize final payment in the amount of $7,100 to Shaw Contracting. Funding is available in Andrews Park Pavilion Construction Project, Construction (050-9050-452.61-01-PR0139).
