Title
SUBMISSION OF THE 2015 INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY DIALOGUE REPORT AND ACTION PLAN BY THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION.
Body
On July 22, 2008, City Council adopted Resolution No. R-0809-12 to participate in the National League of Cities’ Partnership for Working toward Inclusive Communities, reaffirming the City’s commitment to inclusion as a fundamental aspect of the community, pledging active efforts to achieve that goal, and urging all citizens to join together to support this effort. In furtherance of those goals, the Human Rights Commission (“HRC”) hosts Inclusive Community Dialogues (“ICDs”) to gather information from the community on ways that the City can better serve citizens and build an inclusive community. On October 1, 2015, the HRC hosted an ICD on the issue of domestic violence in the Lowery Room of the Norman Public Library. The ICD Report and Action Plan prepared by the HRC summarizing the main points of concern and recommendations discussed is submitted for Council’s consideration. The HRC approved this report at its January 25, 2016, meeting.
