CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FROM THE CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY ALUMNI OF NORMAN (CPAAN) TO BE USED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

BACKGROUND: CPAAN president, Judy Hixon, in discussions with Bike Team member Sergeant Zermeno, offered CPAAN funds for a Bike Team project. Sgt. Zermeno told her about a project the Team wanted to complete that would cost about $500. This project was a redesign of the current Bike Team storage area to accommodate all team assigned bicycles. The newly designed storage area would keep the City of Norman Police Department bicycles from being stored in an outdoor bike pen exposing the bikes to the elements.
In accordance with City Code, Section 8-111, any donation in excess of $250 must be accepted by the City Council. This item is being brought forward for that purpose.
DISCUSSION: This donation came to us from CPAAN to be used by the City of Norman Police Department to redesign the Bike Team storage area.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City of Norman accept the donation of $500 into the Police Donations account (106-363376) and appropriate $500 into the Other Supplies-Materials Miscellaneous account (10660322-43199) for use in the redesign and modification of the Bike Team storage area.
