CONSIDERATION AND AWARDING OF BID NO. 1213-26 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FLUORESCENT TRAFFIC CONES FOR THE TRAFFIC CONTROL DIVISION.

BACKGROUND: The City of Norman's Traffic Control Division utilizes glass beads to produce retro-reflective pavement markings, and fluorescent traffic cones for the pavement striping program.
DISCUSSION: Every year, the City of Norman enters into several supply agreements for the materials needed in our striping operations. Under these agreements, we purchase operating equipment and supplies as they are needed. Bid No. 1213-26 - 28 inch Orange Fluorescent Trim-Line Traffic Cones was opened on September 6, 2012. Bids were sent to Centerline Supply (Grand Prairie, TX); Barco Municipal Products (Omaha, NE); Halsen Products (Belmont, MS); Lowes Home Improvement (Norman, OK); and Time Striping (Sallisaw, OK). Only one bid was received from Centerline Supply, Inc.
The budget for this particular item, Bid No. 1213-26 is in the Pavement Marking Materials Account Number 010-5023-429.32-14 with a budget amount of $15,000.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that Bid No. 1213-26 be awarded to Centerline Supply, Inc., as the lowest and best bidder meeting specifications.
