FINAL ACCEPTANCE AND FINAL PAYMENT OF CONTRACT K-1516-147 BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND DOWNEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE SAXON PARK FITNESS TRAIL AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT.

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  On 10 May 2016, City Council approved Contract K-1516-147 for the Saxon Park Road and Trail Construction Project and accepted a grant from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department.  This project was a second phase of the John Saxon Jr. Community Park development and included the construction of a paved fitness trail with outdoor exercise stations along the trail and continued construction of the park road.

 

The total contract with Downey Construction Company was in the amount of $267,261 which included $160,000 in Recreation Trails Grant funding, $50,000 Room Tax funding, $34,953 Community Park Land Development funding and $22,308 in Capital funding.

 

DISCUSSION:  On 4 November 2016, the site was inspected by City staff and found to be complete as per specifications.  Partial payments were made throughout the project.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  It is recommended that City Council accept the Saxon Park Road, Parking and Trail Construction Project as complete and authorize final payment in the amount of $13,363.05 to Downey Construction Company.

Recreation Trails Grant (account 022-9674-452.61-01; project PC0003) - $160,000

Saxon Park Development Room Tax (account 023-9674-452.61-01; project RT0081) - $50,000

Saxon Park Development Park Land (account 052-9674-452.61-01; project PC0003) - $34,953

Saxon Park Development Capital (account 050-9674-452.61-01; project PC0003) - $22,308
