CONTRACT K-1617-111: A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND THE LITTLE AXE YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATION FOR THE USE OF THE LITTLE AXE BASEBALL/SOFTBALL FIELD COMPLEX FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS.

BACKGROUND: The Little Axe Youth Sports Association organizes the youth baseball/softball program for the benefit of the Little Axe community. The Association has successfully facilitated the youth sports program for over ten years. Contract Number- K-1112-127 expires on April 24, 2017 and the Association wishes to enter into another contract.
DISCUSSION: The proposed Contract K-1617-111 provides that the Little Axe Youth Sports Association agrees to maintain all grounds used by its members and patrons; pay 100% of the electrical cost of the complex; and, pay an annual lease of $1 for the use of the complex.
The Association will continue to provide a concession operation and be responsible for opening, cleaning and stocking the restroom facilities on a daily basis. Consistent with all other sports organizational contracts, the Association will provide a detailed annual program activity report to the Norman Board of Park Commissioners.
The City will continue to provide mowing of non-playing areas; major fencing repairs; and, fertilization of outfields. The only modification to the contract is that the term has been reduced from five years to three years.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that Contract K-1617-111 with the Little Axe Sports Association to be approved for the use of the Little Axe Baseball/Softball Field Complex. If approved, Contract K-1617-111 will be effective for a term of three years.
