CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF REIMBURSEMENT OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,132.49 ELIGIBLE UNDER THE FIRE MUTUAL AID ASSISTANCE GRANT (FMAG) PROGRAM FOR RESPONSE TO A WILDFIRE NORTH OF POST OAK ROAD IN CLEVELAND COUNTY IN AUGUST OF 2011.

body
BACKGROUND:  Resources including labor, equipment, materials and supplies were used to respond to a wild-land fire, referred to as the Cedar Lane Fire, which began on the afternoon of 8/8/2011 as a brush fire north of Post Oak Road near Norman, in Cleveland County, OK. The fire was assigned FMAG #2948.

DISCUSSION:  This fire began south of Norman, in Noble and spread to parts of Norman before it was brought under control.  Several fire departments responded to this fire and assisted with the suppression efforts and were determined to be eligible for reimbursement of some of their expenses.  Approximately 1,000 acres burned, one home was destroyed and several homes were threatened by the fire.  Norman acted as an agent for the supporting jurisdictions that responded and processed all of the reimbursement claims.  A spreadsheet indicating the jurisdictions and the amounts due them is attached.

RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council accept the reimbursement in the amount of $7,132.49; receipt $6,806.18 into FEMA Reimbursements (022-0000-334.13-28) and $326.31 into FEMA Reimbursements (010-0000-334-1328); and appropriate $6,806.18 into account (022-6443-422.47-54) for distribution to the other jurisdictions.
