CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $400 FROM THE OKLAHOMA CLEAN LAKES AND WATERSHEDS ASSOCIATION TO BE USED BY THE STORMWATER DIVISION FOR LAKE THUNDERBIRD WATERSHED CLEANUP EVENTS.

BACKGROUND: The Oklahoma Clean Lakes and Watersheds Association presented the City of Norman Stormwater Division with a donation in the amount of $400 to support the City’s Lake Thunderbird Watershed Cleanup events. In accordance with City Code, Section 8-111, any donation in excess of $250 must be accepted by the City Council. This item is being brought forward for that purpose.
DISCUSSION: This is a private, unsolicited donation to support the Stormwater Division’s public education and outreach efforts in the Lake Thunderbird watershed. This donation will allow us to provide materials and supplies to volunteers participating in our watershed cleanup events and help us to involve more residents in having a tangible effect on pollutant removal by picking up trash and debris in parks throughout the Lake Thunderbird watershed.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the $400 donation be accepted and deposited into the Miscellaneous Revenues/Contributions/Donations/Organization account (010-0000-365.13-73) and be appropriated and distributed into the Stormwater Quality account Other Supplies (010-5025-431.31-99).
