BACKGROUND:   On 7 April 2014, damages were sustained to a City sign and plant and landscaping materials in the Main Street median at the intersection of West Main Street and Ed Noble Parkway when a vehicle went out of control and drove through the median.
 
The driver of the vehicle was given a citation by the Norman Police Department and a claim was filed on behalf of the City of Norman by the City Attorney's Office.
 
DISCUSSION:  On 28 April 2014, the City received a check from Farmers Insurance, in the amount of $3,779.10, for the damages claimed which includes $106.35 for sign replacement and $3,672.75 for landscape and plant materials.  This payment represents a 100% recovery of the damages claimed.
 
RECOMMENDATION:  It is recommended that City Council appropriate $3,779.10 from Risk Management - Reimbursements (account 043-0000-367.12-64) to Parks Maintenance-Other Miscellaneous Services ($3,672.75; account 010-7010-452.42-99) and Traffic and Street Signs ($106.35; account 010-5023-429.32-13), in order to proceed with replacement of the City sign and landscape reconstruction, by Resolution R-1314-125.
