CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FROM LESLEE AND ROBIN LYNCH TO BE USED AT THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER AND BUDGET APPROPRIATION.

BACKGROUND: Leslee and Robin Lynch presented the City of Norman Animal Welfare Center with a donation in the amount of $500. In accordance with City Code, Section 8-111, any donation in excess of $250 must be accepted by the City Council. This item is being brought forward for that purpose.
DISCUSSION: This is a private, unsolicited donation for the care of animals at the Norman Animal Welfare Center. It was requested by Leslee and Robin Lynch to use the donation “For dogs and cats” with no other specifications. As part of our continuing commitment to encourage responsible pet ownership by promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and pets of Norman through education, enforcement, and community partnership, the donation will allow us to further that cause.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the $500 donation be accepted and deposited into the Miscellaneous Revenues / Contributions / Donations / Citizen account (010-0000-365.13-72) and be appropriated and distributed into the Animal Welfare account Other Supplies/Materials-Medical (010-6070-441.31-17).
