BACKGROUND: The FYE 2018 Information Technology Department budget includes funding for annual maintenance agreements to support software applications and hardware deemed core and critical to City functions.  Superion, formerly Sungard Public Sector, Inc., is the software vendor that develops and maintains the current Enterprise Resource Planning software suite of applications used by the City.

 

DISCUSSIONSection 8-204(b)(2) of the Code of the City of Norman authorizes the City Council to waive competitive bidding for the purchase of supplies, materials, equipment, or contractual services which can only be furnished by a single dealer or have a uniform price wherever bought.  In accordance therewith, the software agreement is only available through Superion formerly Sungard Public Sector Inc.

 

Funds are available in Maintenance & Repair Services/Contract-Data Processing (account 010-2321-416.42-26) to complete the purchase.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends approval to purchase the software maintenance and support agreement presented between the City of Norman and Superion in the amount of $126,328.76.
