CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A $1,000 GRANT FROM THE DUFFIELD FAMILY FOUNDATION D/B/A MADDIE’S FUND® TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS OF THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER, AND BUDGET APPROPRIATION.

BACKGROUND: The Norman Police Department Animal Welfare Division participated in the Million Cat Challenge in May 2016 and was awarded a $1,000 grant from Maddie’s Fund, a Family Foundation dedicated to revolutionizing the status and well-being of companion animals. The grant contains no stipulations and may be used to further any aspect of the Division’s operations.
DISCUSSION: As part of our continuing commitment to encourage responsible pet ownership by promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and pets of Norman through education, enforcement, and community partnership, acceptance of the grant will assist us in purchasing needed medical supplies.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the $1000 grant be accepted and deposited into the Contributions-Organizations revenue account (010-0000-365.13-73) and be appropriated into the Animal Welfare account Other Supplies/Materials - Medical (010-6070-441.31-17).
