BACKGROUND: On 18 December 2001, Ordinance Number 0102-28 was adopted by City Council creating the Campus Corner Revitalization Project and Increment District to provide improvements to the historic Campus Corner area. General boundaries of the Campus Corner area are Duffy Street on the north, Boyd Street on the south, DeBarr Avenue on the east and University Boulevard on the west (see attached Campus Corner Revitalization Project Plan - Exhibit A map).
Since the adoption of the Plan the improvements as administered by the Public Works Department, included design, construction and repair of public improvements, including utilities, lighting, security systems, landscaping, signage, traffic controls, parking, streets, drainage, curbs and sidewalks. The total expenditure for this project to date was $1,308,185.22.
DISCUSSION: Funding remaining in the Campus Corner Revitalization Project and Increment District includes $1,833 in the Campus Corner Improvements Project, Construction (account 027-9368-431.61-01 TF0001) and $2,463 in the Campus Corner Revitalization Project and Increment District Fund Balance (027-0000-253.20-00).
The Parks and Recreation Department has had a contractor replace ten banner brackets on Campus Corner light poles at a cost of $197 each for a total of $1,970. Additional improvements in the area include replacement of two bicycle racks at an estimated cost of $300 each for a total of $600, and seven trees at an estimated cost of $250 per tree, for a total of $1,750. The total estimated cost for all these improvements is $4,320.
