Body
BACKGROUND: Westwood Park includes the City of Norman's public golf course, tennis facility and swimming pool complex. The large pools at the swim complex were built over 45 years ago. The water slide feature was constructed in 1993 for a cost of $207,650. In addition to the regular admission fees, the waterslide produces annual revenue of approximately $25,000.

Prior to opening the pool complex for the 2013 season, equipment inspections revealed that the filter tank had rusted through in several places and developed leaks. Although City staff was able to provide a temporary welded reinforcement (see attached pictures) it was determined that the waterslide filter tank, including all piping and stainless steel hardware attached to the filter tank was at the end of its' useful life and must be replaced.

The entire budget for this project is $150,000 which includes in addition to the waterslide filter tank replacement, a back-up main pump for the entire swim complex and main complex pipe replacement. These items will bid on separate proposals.
