BACKGROUND: During the FYE 2011 Capital Budget process, City Council approved funding for several facility maintenance projects for the Parks and Recreation Department. One such project was the Historical Museum Renovation Project, which was a multi-year project that included repairing the foundation and walls of the Moore-Lindsey house, repairing and re-painting the exterior of the house and the porches, repairing the interior plaster work and repainting or replacing the wall coverings on all of the interior walls. The final part of the project was proposed as a remodel of the interior of the Carriage House at the Museum, in order to create a meeting space and ADA-accessible restroom facility at the Museum. An architect was hired to produce a set of plans for the project that could be used to acquire price quotations.

DISCUSSION: During January, city staff met with three general contractors, all of whom were given access to the facility and a set of plans, in order to evaluate the challenges of this design program for this particular facility. All three contractors submitted complete quotes. The lowest and best quotation was received from Fredgren Quality Works in the amount of $48,900.

RECOMMENDATION NO. 1: It is recommended that City Council accept the quotation in the amount of $48,900 from Fredgren Quality Works for the Carriage House Renovation Project for the Parks and Recreation Department. The project budget is $49,100. Funding is available from Project EF0123, Historical Museum Renovation, Construction (#050-9677-419.61-01)
