CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM MR. FRED SMITH TO BE USED AT THE NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE CENTER.

BACKGROUND: The City of Norman Animal Welfare Center has received a check from Mr. Fred Smith donating $1,000 to be used by the Animal Welfare Center. In accordance with City Code, Section 8-111, any donation in excess of $250 must be accepted by the City Council. This item is being brought forward for that purpose.
DISCUSSION: This is a private, unsolicited donation for the care of animals at the Norman Animal Welfare Center. It was offered in memory of Mr. Smith’s dog, Gates. It was provided by mail with no stipulations or requests for a specific purpose.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the $1000 donation be accepted and deposited into the Miscellaneous Revenues / Contributions / Donations / Animal Welfare account (10-22431) for distribution at a later date.
