BACKGROUND:  Contract No. K-1213-37 is an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Norman and the Board of Cleveland County Commissioners whereby cooperative roadway maintenance and construction activities are performed in the City of Norman.  The Board of Cleveland County Commissioners approved this contract in its meeting of June 25, 2012, and it is a continuation of previous agreements.  Cleveland County District No. 1, Commissioner Rod Cleveland, provides assistance in rural west Norman; District No. 2, Commissioner George Skinner, provides assistance in rural east Norman; and District No. 3, Commissioner Rusty Sullivan provides assistance in rural south Norman adjacent the City of Noble.
 
DISCUSSION:  The County performs grading and graveling on approximately 12 miles of unpaved rural section line roads within the City of Norman.  Approximately 376 miles of grading is annually performed by the County utilizing 1,298 tons of rock provided or purchased by the City.   The County also provides labor and equipment to reconstruct and pave rural roads and urban roads.
 
RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends approval of Contract K-1213-37 and authorize the Mayor to execute it on behalf of the City.
