Body

INFORMATION:  The Norman Arts Council (NAC) and the Public Arts Board have requested that long-time Norman citizen, Larry P. Walker, be memorialized by naming the Downtown Arts District “The Larry Walker Arts District”.  Mr. Walker was the Chairman of the Norman Public Arts Board from its inception in 2007 until his recent passing.  The City Council Community Planning and Transportation Committee met on Thursday, January 26th, to consider the request from NAC and recommended that it move forward for Council’s approval.  The NAC plans to use funds collected from memorial contributions made in Mr. Walker’s name for an artist-designed sign commemorating the district and will work with the City on installation once selected.
