CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 FROM THE WALMART FOUNDATION TO BE USED FOR THE NORMAN DAY 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION.

Body
BACKGROUND:  The Norman Day 4th of July Celebration is open to the general public and features a day in Reaves Park filled with family fun, games, picnics, softball, musical entertainment and ending with a grand fireworks display.  The 2015 event is the 40th annual event provided by the Parks and Recreation Department.

DISCUSSION:  In April 2015, Parks and Recreation staff applied to the Walmart Foundation for a donation of $2,000 to help fund the musical entertainment to take place at the Norman Day 4th of July event.  Staff has received notification that the donation had been approved.

Entertainment for this year's event will be provided by Box Talent in the amount of $5,850.  This amount includes providing and installing the stage, lighting and sound operator.  Additionally, the amount includes recorded music beginning at 3:00 p.m., the John Arnold Band from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the Hook band from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.  The balance of the entertainment cost has been raised through private donations and will be paid by the Norman Park Foundation, Inc.
