CONSIDERATION OF THE DECLARATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL EQUIPMENT REPLACED IN THE CITYWIDE TRAFFIC SIGNAL FLASHING YELLOW UPGRADE PROJECT AS SURPLUS AND/OR OBSOLETE AND OF AUTHORIZATION OF THE DONATION THEREOF TO THE CITY OF MOORE.

On Monday, May 20, 2013, the City of Moore experienced a tornado resulting in the loss of life, structures, and traffic control infrastructure. The City of Norman recently completed a capital project upgrading traffic control equipment at major intersections implementing flashing yellow arrows and are no longer utilizing the old equipment. Staff recommends donating the surplus equipment to the City of Moore to help address their immediate need for traffic control measures.
Section 8-301 of the City Code requires that the City Council declare surplus or obsolete any supplies, materials, or equipment where the valuation exceeds $1,000 prior to the selling or disposal thereof. In accordance therewith, this items is submitted for Council's consideration.
