CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FROM J.M. WILLIAMS REVOCABLE TRUST TO BE USED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

BACKGROUND: J.M. Williams Revocable Trust has presented an unsolicited donation to the Norman Police Department for use in the Department’s efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the City of Norman.
DISCUSSION: Chapter 8, Section 8-111. - Donations provides: “Any donation valued above $250 to be received by the City of Norman, whether in the form of monies or any other thing of value, shall be required to be accepted by the Council of the City of Norman prior to any use or disbursement of such monies or thing of value by or to any City operation or cause.”
This item is being brought forward to City Council in accordance with that Code provision. If accepted by City Council, the Police Department will retain these funds in the Police Donation account until a specific need is identified. At that time a request would be submitted for use of the funds.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City of Norman accept the donation of $500 into Miscellaneous Revenue/Donations/Police Donations (account 010-0000-365.13-76).
