Title
CONSIDERATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 FROM ARTHUR M. BREIPOHL.

Body
BACKGROUND:  On December 31, 2014, the City Clerk's Office received a check in the amount of $5,000 from Mr. Arthur M. Briepohl.  Chapter 8, Section 8-111 of the Code of the City of Norman requires all donations in excess of $250 to be accepted by the City Council prior to the City's use of such donation.  Accordingly, Mr. Briepohl's donation of $5,000 is being presented to City Council to consider acceptance of the donation.

DISCUSSION:  Mr. Briepohl's letter transmitting the donation check to the City is included with this item.  Mr. Briepohl stated that as a citizen of Norman he has a strong interest in and passion for the well-being of our senior citizens.  Mr. Briepohl stated that he is making the donation for the City of Norman for a design or planning effort for new or additional Senior Citizen facilities in Norman. Although there is no current project for new or additional Senior Citizen facilities being planned or designed at this time, Mr. Briepohl stated in his letter that there were no requirements for the use of the funds, but it is his hope that they will be used for a new Senior Citizen facility at such a time as the Norman City Council is ready to move forward with such a project.  Mr. Briepohl further requested that Staff keep him updated on the City's plans regarding planning and development of new or additional Senior Citizen facilities.

RECOMMENDATION:  Based upon the above, if Council accepts the donation and authorize the Finance Director to deposit the donation proceeds, it is recommended that the donation proceeds be accounted for in the following account to be used at such a time as the Norman City Council is ready to move forward with a project for new or additional Senior Citizen facilities:  Other/Senior Citizens Center (010-0000-227.24-34)
